Ms. Teara Young, MSN, MBA, PMHNP-BC, RN
Teara Young is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with nine years of experience across academic medical centers and community-based healthcare settings. Her professional background spans psychiatric care, cardiovascular and thoracic nursing, business leadership, and patient advocacy, allowing her to deliver comprehensive, thoughtful, and patient-centered care.
Ms. Young’s clinical approach integrates biological, psychological, social, and lifestyle factors, recognizing the close connection between mental and physical health. She provides integrated medication management and supportive, psychotherapy-informed care, and also incorporates life-coaching strategies focused on goal setting, personal development, and behavior change when appropriate. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) focus, with the intention of deepening her ability to deliver holistic, head-to-toe care across the lifespan.
Her clinical focus includes the evaluation and management of depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, bipolar spectrum disorders, ADHD, and co-occurring substance use conditions. Ms. Young emphasizes collaborative treatment planning, patient education, shared decision-making, and practical skill-building to empower patients to actively participate in their care. She values continuity of care and works closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated treatment.
In addition to her clinical practice, Ms. Young has served as President of the Patient and Family Advisory Board Council at a large medical center, where she advocated for patient-centered care, improved communication, and system-level initiatives that enhance the patient and family experience.
Ms. Young’s ideal clients include adolescents and adults seeking compassionate, respectful, and culturally sensitive psychiatric care. She works especially well with parents and mothers navigating the emotional demands of care-giving, as well as families with children seeking supportive, coordinated mental health care. Having traveled to more than 20 countries, Ms. Young brings a culturally informed and globally sensitive perspective to her work, which enhances her ability to connect with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. Her goal is to support patients and families in achieving stability, clarity, and improved quality of life through individualized, holistic psychiatric care.
